CENTRAL ASIA

Tajikistan has one of the longest borders with Afghanistan, 1,500 kilometers. 99% of the population are Muslims. After the Soviet Union collapsed, Tajikistan became one of the poorest countries in Eurasia. Out of 9 million people, almost 2,5 million travel to work in Russia regularly. It creates a lot of problems. From the beginning of 2000’s, no church has been granted a registration certificate. Moreover, I cannot take my children to church on Sundays until they are 18 years old. It is prohibited by the law. 67% of the population is young, under the age of 35. Regular Tajik families have at least 3-4 kids. Despite all law limitations, this situation makes sport a unique tool to go in to the Muslim community, share Gospel with young generation and influence on the future of Tajikistan. We are in a historical “moment”. We started our ministry back in 2006 in a small village, south part of Tajikistan. It’s proven its effectives as a unique “tool” and “key” to open closed doors of Muslim communities. In 6 months, 4 family churches were planted with 80 Muslim kids and their family members. We started in one place and now have grown through the capital of Tajikistan, cross denominationally, across regions, and multi sports. Right now, it includes 20 Christian coaches of different churches, different sports (taekwondo, soccer, swimming, floorball, cycling) and is making an impact on the 1,725 Muslim families.
