Newborn Care Specialist/Postpartum Doula

Newborn Care

Hello Families, I’m Amanda Heath-Castro and I’m a wife and mama of 3. I enjoy helping and educating families and especially caring for babies. I’m a Newborn Care Specialist/Postpartum Doula/Sitter. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a concentration in Human Services and I’m currently in graduate school obtaining my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I’m CPR and First Aid certified and have certain vaccinations. I have experience with newborns including triplets! My experience as a Nanny has been with infants to toddler age. My job as your Newborn Care Specialist is to help with Feeding the baby/babies: Ensuring infants are nourished and well-cared for during feeding times. • Sterilizing, Cleaning, and Preparing Bottles: Maintaining a safe and hygienic environment for feeding. • Sterilizing and Cleaning Pump Parts: Ensuring cleanliness and availability of pump parts. • Changing Baby When Needed: Attending to the baby's diaper changes promptly and with care. • Establishing Healthy Sleep Habits: Assisting in establishing a healthy sleep routine for the infant. • Soothing Baby Back to Sleep: Providing comfort and aid in getting the baby back to sleep. • Maintaining Sleep Schedules & Logs: Documenting and managing the baby's sleep patterns, diaper changes, and feedings. • Keeping the Nursery Tidy: Ensuring the nursery is organized and maintained for a conducive environment. • Education for Parents: Providing guidance and education to parents on newborn care. Being a Postpartum Doula is similar to a Newborn Care Specialist in many ways accept not only am I caring for baby, I’m caring for mom and the families needs. Here is what this entails: *Helping your family learn and become comfortable with baby soothing and bondingmethods * Caring for the baby so parents can take a nap, shower, or eat a meal * Helping with mom's post-birth comfort measures  * Offering physical support as mom recovers from a cesarean delivery * Making breakfast, lunch, dinner, or healthy snacks * Keeping mom hydrated and comfortable * Playing with older children and helping with bedtime and naptime * Taking care of light household cleaning, such as dishes, tidying up, and laundry * Offering breastfeeding knowledge, support, and assistance * Helping with newborn care, such as diaper changes, naps, and feedings * Providing resources to related services, such as birthing classes or a lactation consultant Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
