1) I use Recovery Derm Shield adhesive clear wound dressing. Keep dressing on for a minimum of 24 hours. If your tattoo is not "leaking" out of the dressing, Recovery Derm can be kept on for up to 7 days. I recommend 5 days. On the fifth day, slowly peel off dressing in shower with water running over it. Follow steps 2-7 below. *It will start to look ugly underneath the wrap. This is NORMAL and part of the healing process. *This is very rare, but if you experience redness or bumps around the derm within the first 24 hours, remove it under water and follow steps 2-7 below. You may be having a reaction to the adhesive. *If your tattoo is leaking out of the dressing and you did not receive a second piece of Recovery Derm, contact me. When possible, I will have you come in so we can check the tattoo healing process and replace the dressing if necessary. *If you have an adhesive allergy & we couldn't use Recovery Derm, remove plastic wrap bandage after 8-12 hours. Do not re-bandage the area and follow steps 2-7. 2) Wash your tattoo GENTLY with antibacterial soap and warm water removing as many ointments, color/ink, dried blood, and plasma as possible. 3) Dry your tattoo by blotting (do not wipe) with a clean, soft, and dry towel. 4) The day after bandage removal, use a hypo-allergenic, unscented lotion in SMALL amounts. Rub in thoroughly and wipe off any excess. I recommend using Blasted Tattoo Care which I have available. DO NOT USE Vaseline or products with petroleum. 5) Your tattoo will begin to form a scab in about 2 to 3 days. Do NOT scratch or pick at the scab or tattoo. This is part of the healing process. 6) Your tattoo should be almost healed in about 10 to 14 days. 7) Your tattoo is an OPEN WOUND! Please make sure you treat it as such until it is fully healed. THE DO NOTS: 1). Do NOT soak your tattoo! No baths, hot tubs, or swimming until your skin is completely healed. Avoid excessive sun exposure also. 2). Do NOT scratch your tattoo. Your tattoo will itch, LEAVE IT ALONE! 3). Do NOT participate in activities that will cause you to be in unsanitary environments! No "mud-runs", no wrestling, no working in sewers, no participating in things that will make you sweat excessively without protecting your tattoo. THINGS TO WATCH FOR DURING HEALING: 1)If vour tattoo begins to show signs of infection (redness around the tattoo, swelling, tenderness, warm to touch), please seek medical assistance immediately. 2) If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your me directly.
